Condor Bass - key of "C" minor -  has a resonant deep low tone and haunting voice. It is a good accompaniment flute for the higher pitched Merlin "C" minor flute.

It is made from domestic black walnut and is sealed with non-toxic oils giving it a clear, bright voice. The Condor Bass "C" is a good accompaniment flute for the Merlin Flute key of "C".

It is a 6-hole flute. The 3rd hole from the top of the flute is covered with a leather strap, giving the option to use it as a 6-hole or a 5-hole flute. I call this a "training strap" for beginners because the note (a half note, like a black key on a piano) under the strap is not used in the basic 6 note scale. So, the leather strap prevents you from playing a note that doesn't fit with the basic scale. Even with the strap in place, I always encourage people to get in the habit of leaving your ring finger on your top hand over the strap to develop muscle memory. Then when you're ready to take the strap off, you will be able to keep your ring finger on your top hand in place when playing the basic scale. Also with the strap off, you will have the ability to lift your ring finger and play that note, which is needed on certain songs, like Amazing Grace, several traditional Native American songs that you'll find in song books 1 & 2, and several Christmas songs.

This flute is 27.25 inches long. Each flute includes a free "How To Play The Native American Flute" Book and DVD (Item 26 - DVD & Booklet - How To Play The Native American Flute).

NOTE: This is a larger 2" bore flute and bass flutes this size are recommended for those with larger hands or those with previous woodwind instrument experience. Keep in mind that this flute has larger holes and people, especially females, with smaller hands and slender fingers, might have difficulty covering the holes.
