The Crow Flute key of G minor - It is made from ebonized walnut, a hardwood, and inlaid with turquoise which adds to the natural beauty of the flute and is deeper in tone than the Sparrow Hawk "A" flute. It is a beautiful looking and sounding flute with a soothing melodic voice in the mid-range, which starts to get into the deeper tones. This flute is tuned to the key of "G" minor and can also be played in the relative major diatonic scale in the key of "A#/Bb".

Ebonizing is a process used in the early 1900s. Unlike a stain, the ebonizing process penetrates the wood fiber deeply. Walnut is ideal for this process because it has a dark brown grain that streaks through the black dye giving it a similar look to ebony. This process slightly enhances the sound quality of the wood.

It is a very versatile key, plays well with other instruments, and works well with many different styles of music expression - Native style, romantic, blues, jazz, etc. It is best for those with medium to larger hands.

It can be played as both a 5 hole or 6 hole flute. It has 6 holes and comes with a leather strap over the 3rd hole down from the top that converts it to a 5 hole flute. Even though the strap is covering the 3rd hole down from the top, I encourage beginners to keep your ring finger on your top hand down over the strap to develop muscle memory. When comfortable and after you have developed good muscle memory, just remove the leather strap and experience playing it as a 6 hole flute.

This flute is 23.5 inches long. Each flute includes a free "How To Play The Native American Flute" Book and DVD (Item 26 - DVD & Booklet - How To Play The Native American Flute).
